Sony held its annual PlayStation Awards ceremony in Tokyo last week. There was a seven-piece female chorus group to sing beautiful songs about the heavenly merits of popular games, and at one point the stage was aglow with the presence of an exceedingly orange man. Yes, good old Toshihiro “Hero” Nagoshi was there to pick up a Gold Prize for his work on Ryu Ga Gotoku 3, dazzling the crowd with an orange jacket that perfectly matched his world-famous Jaffa complexion.
Other winners were Biohazard 5 and Dissidia Final Fantasy (both awarded Gold “for achieving sales of over 500,000 discs”), as well as Monster Hunter Portable 2nd Generation, which received a Platinum Prize “for achieving sales of over 1,000,000 discs” (it’s actually shifted more than three-and-a-half times that volume so far). The only thing missing from the evening was a speech from Rick Spleen, though Kaz did his best to compensate for that.
