Gaijin Gamer’s instant guide to Japanese game companies’ YouTube channels

The official lines.

By J.D., January 4, 2010

If you know where to look, you can find on YouTube the official promo channels for some of Japan’s greatest videogame companies. You can also find those of broken companies such as Namco Bandai, whose recent mediocre form can be attributed to a gross overuse of resources in promotion of its latest purikura machine, as demoed in the eyelash fixation video above.

Anyway, set your mouses to click. Here are The Channels:

SEGA’s channel is bold and beautiful, but a bit heavy on its coverage of the WCCF arcade-football-card game phenomenon.

Square Enix’s is OK, if a little austere-looking. I suppose the same can be said for most of SquEnix’s games. Zing!

Namco Bandai’s channel is 99% Gundam battle footage, though the “Podcasting Magazine” section has its moments.

Hudson’s “hudsonTV” channel has the most charm. It’s something you can laugh with.

Arc System Works also has a channel, so that’s good.

The Taito Channel has some mind-melting full-HD Darius Burst cutscene footage, among other treats. Long live Taito!

Finally, you should check the FamitsuTube channel, which is full of protracted interviews, cute video blogs and shameless flirting
