Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight producer Raj Joshi has told VideoGamesDaily that the upcoming RTS skews towards first-person shooter fans.
Asked whether he thought the new game would find a following beyond C&C loyalists, Joshi remarked: “I think more so than before – having the mobile crawler, the class choice which hopefully will appeal to first-person shooter multiplayer players, where it’s more focused.
“Rather than having all 88 units accessible at once and trying to figure out your path, you pick a class and that kind of determines your play style. Having that mobile base, and not having to do Tiberium harvesting, and not having as many units to control at once, will hopefully help people jump in.
“Plus the play style of multiplayer is more like a first person shooter mode, where it’s kind of this domination style capturing of control points,” he concluded.
“We’re hoping all these things kind of added together will make it easier to get into. It’s not a casual game by any stretch of the imagination, but I think more casual than, like, Red Alert 3, where the build order was very specific, all the units were very specifically good at one little thing. That one was very oriented to the micromanaging player.”
Command & Conquer 4 (currently available in open beta form) is due out for PC only on 16th March in North America and 19th March in Europe. When’s the last time you saw the words “PC” and “only” in the same sentence, readers?
This is bullshit. I have the beta, and it’s ridiculously boring and tedious. Not only is getting rid of base building the dumbest idea they’ve ever had, but each class has about 10 units, meaning that if you stick with one class and play style you’ll be using the same 10 units for the entire time you play it online (Which you’ll get bored of after about 5 or 10 matches). It’s gone completely casual, you can’t even make a lot of units at once, about 20 small units and even less powerful units. I can’t believe they think old C&C fans will enjoy this horrible excuse for an rts.
Haha… so bitch about it in the comments. That’ll show them.
Yes! DAWN OF WAR IS DAWN OF WAR, and COMPANY OF HEROES is what it is. Both are great strategy titles. But EA plz it dosent mean u have to start copying them. We loved our base building and nothing cant top it today or ever. Still ill give it a try.
It IS an FPS. F’ing Piece of Shit!
why all of the last versions of games and movies are always ridiculously!!!! ????
why all of the last versions of games and movies cannot be satisfying .
